I Swear I'm not Dead

Well hello! It's been a few months and life hasn't been slowing down. This is our last semester and we are definitely busy. I open my BFA exhibition in four weeks and I'm freaking out. But for photo recaps.
My hair is getting super long, curly and thick. For a girl never having hair before...it's scary.
Myself and two other girlfriends hprented a car together and headed down for an afternoon and night of shopping and out of Laie time. Us married girls know how to party! We were out until 3am. It was the most fun I have had in a long time. I'm going to miss those girls when the time comes. It was fun to learn more about them on our drive down. I was the only one with a license so I had to drive and we had some giggles trying to figure out what each other was saying or referring to. One is from Sweden and the other from Chile. They are amazing women! But we are dumb and didn't take any pictures together. That's ok though. We made lots of memories.
Lastly for Halloween, I used all my junk amazing stuff on hand and was a black bear. Luckily I had this adorable bear ear hat from Book of Deer. I love the designer and her clothes! Her sketches are fantastic and she is super nice. If you have not heard of her or Book of Deer, go check it out now.
Also! I'm pretty sure my sisters and sister in laws have heard of Spoonflower, but my design was featured on one of their top 100 lists on the first page the other day and I was so thrilled! Also some other quick obsessions and things I would love to tell you about.
1. I love candy corn and it is very hard to come by on the island.
2. I can eat a whole bag of candy corn in 1.5 days.
3. I am obsessed with American Apparel Disco Pants. (Buy them on eBay or Poshmark WAY cheaper)
4. Poshmark is a buying/selling app and website. To sell anything you have to use the app but you can buy online. I have sold almost half of my closet in preparing for moving back to the mainland and have in the mean time, gotten my mom hooked on it in search of deals on Vera Bradley. Sorry Mom. (If you want to join use my link :) )
5. I have returned to my true New Yorker self and my closet (everything I have decided to keep out for 30 days) is all black.
5. I'm on our schools spirit and dance team and I have to say, I love these girls and our men's stunting team. I will definitely miss them.
6. Lastly, I accomplished one of my year goals and have based a partner stunt! (again forgot to take a picture so will be doing that soon!)
Thanks for sticking with me! I will be updating as we clear our apartment and hopefully get outside. I'm not joking. I don't leave the library computers. Well have a good week! And I will hopefully update before we leave Hawaii.

Summer Never Ends Here

Summer semester ends this week and then in two weeks we start our final semester of college...WHAT?! My last first day of school outfit? It's been a long time coming! If you are in the Hudson Valley you better go to the Dutchess County Fair. To think, next year will be the first time in 5 years we will be able to go! Have a lime fizz and some fried dough for me please!

Textile Patterns

Well I have been working on fabric designs and repeatable patterns a lot recently. Here are some created this past month. They will be available on Spoonflower soon and I will let you know when. The last one I am not sure if I am going to actually make it a fabric pattern (not to sell, just personally use), but it is made thanks to the U.S. Naval Observatory and Space Telescope Science Institute.  I kind of love my little dinos. Thanks for the love and wish me luck on all my finals this week!  Coming soon to Spoonflower

Natural Waist

My favorite pair of jeans right now are these Hollister Natural Waist jeggings (I know. Jeggings) they are super comfortable and soft so with three weeks of school left I'm starting to live in them. Have a good Monday everyone!

Summer is Creepin'

We have four more weeks left of the first half of summer semester and all I want to do is head to the beach, go on some hikes and just run away from campus.  The sun is so warm during the day and at night it is turning so cold just like the summer nights that I remember in New York and Vermont.  A golden yellow and grapefruit pink seem to be catching my eye right now, making me think of summer, warmth, and pink lemonade (cheesecake!).

Wanna see my finals?

Today is the first day of Summer semester here and it killed me. I still have until December to be done with school and it is definitely bitter sweet.  A lot of our friends are graduating and/or going on their missions.  But even though this past semester seemed highly unbearable at times, I really enjoyed it now that it's all over.  I have started to really define my art style to a certain degree and have definitely gained more confidence in my abilities. I thought I would share with you my final projects in a few of the art classes.  I had a publication class, a work study/internship and even my Sports Nutrition class I made an art project. But first is my book. If you want to see more pictures or other projects my temporary portfolio blog can be found here. Some projects are pretty humiliating, but hey, we all start somewhere yeah?

Birthday Dress Design

Apparently I am having a hankering for stripes this summer. I have always found it hard to find the right size stripes that don't make me feel wide. I feel like mixing it with a floral print like the first dress below is a cute way to go (and Modcloth styled it amazingly here. I want the whole outfit!). When I first saw the navy and white striped dress in the middle (Topshop) I just wanted it so badly! Unfortunately it's about 10 inches too short and one hundred dollars over my budget. So I decided I'd design a modest version for myself! I made the pattern, and sewed it all together and wore it to Winter Ball on my birthday.

Have a good day! It's almost Friday!

Our first Styling job!

Back in December/November, a new and good friend of mine, Sheyanne from The Retro Renegade, got to style a shoot together! I was asked by jay Merryweather, a professor here if we would like to style this shoot for his digital tools class project. Only catch was that we had to use our own clothes. So my shoes were too for Sorelle our lovely model, but our clothes actually fit well! I hope Sheyanne and I will get to work on more protects together before she leaves on her mission! She is very talented and aspires to be in the fashion world as well. Ah finally someone who gets it out here. Check out her blog!

Back to Black

Well I took a break from basically all internet for a month (except Instagram) and have been focusing on my school and clothing lines. I didn't feel like I had much inspiration for anything until I just got outside and tried out the new camera. I am having so much fun relearning manual camera skills. Everyone always makes resolutions the beginning of a new year but I just picture small goals. This is our last year in Hawaii and with the acquisition if this camera I'm so ready to explore and document our fun findings on the island of Oahu. Here is to another year folks! Don't ever get bored of what's around you.
