Today is the first day of Summer semester here and it killed me. I still have until December to be done with school and it is definitely bitter sweet. A lot of our friends are graduating and/or going on their missions. But even though this past semester seemed highly unbearable at times, I really enjoyed it now that it's all over. I have started to really define my art style to a certain degree and have definitely gained more confidence in my abilities. I thought I would share with you my final projects in a few of the art classes. I had a publication class, a work study/internship and even my Sports Nutrition class I made an art project. But first is my book. If you want to see more pictures or other projects my temporary portfolio blog can be found here. Some projects are pretty humiliating, but hey, we all start somewhere yeah?
Apparently I am having a hankering for stripes this summer. I have always found it hard to find the right size stripes that don't make me feel wide. I feel like mixing it with a floral print like the first dress below is a cute way to go (and Modcloth styled it amazingly here. I want the whole outfit!). When I first saw the navy and white striped dress in the middle (Topshop) I just wanted it so badly! Unfortunately it's about 10 inches too short and one hundred dollars over my budget. So I decided I'd design a modest version for myself! I made the pattern, and sewed it all together and wore it to Winter Ball on my birthday.
Back in December/November, a new and good friend of mine, Sheyanne from The Retro Renegade, got to style a shoot together! I was asked by jay Merryweather, a professor here if we would like to style this shoot for his digital tools class project. Only catch was that we had to use our own clothes. So my shoes were too for Sorelle our lovely model, but our clothes actually fit well! I hope Sheyanne and I will get to work on more protects together before she leaves on her mission! She is very talented and aspires to be in the fashion world as well. Ah finally someone who gets it out here. Check out her blog!
